Senior .NET Developer (Platform Team)

Job description

Do you no longer want to be responsible for just one button, but a whole platform? Then funda is the right place for you! We are looking for a new Senior .NET Developer for the Platform Team. This team does not work on the product, but with what happens across the whole of funda, and devises solutions to make our engineers' lives easier. This requires a different, more challenging way of thinking: zooming out, looking ahead and forming a vision.

Funda has existed for 20 years, and we want to exist for at least another 20, which is why it's important that our code is well structured and we employ domain-driven design. As a senior developer, you look for the balance between those tasks which need to be resolved quickly, and those for which you need to put on the brakes and take a deep-dive into the issue. You coach among your colleagues, and at the same time liaise with other teams about whether an idea is realistic and sustainable. But that's not all: as Platform Team member Kateryna explains, you make a difference with your work. “Of course, we have an enormous audience. But what's much cooler than that is that you can change things on your own. If you've got a good idea and you can convince the team that it's a good idea, you can get started on it straight away. That means you really have an impact.”

What will you do?

As Senior .NET Developer for the Platform Team, you do not work directly with our client group. Instead, your work enables other teams to work quickly and efficiently. That means that you take the lead within funda, and search through the entire landscape for a suitable solution. This is a coveted position for engineers, as your team works at the forefront of the business, pioneering, while the rest of the business follows.

Recently, we have worked a lot on our new architecture. Certain things still need to be rebuilt in the core, however, to make them future-proof. You will work a lot with Microsoft technology, including .NET Core and Azure, but also with open-source products such as Docker or Kubernetes. Within the team, you concentrate on backend developments, but you don't mind writing some JavaScript when needed.

Your team

You will be part of our small, dedicated Platform Team, alongside Marije (Service Owner), Katheryna (QA Engineer), Tom (Software Engineer) and Pascal (Software Engineer). You will report to Maarten (Lead Engineer).


Who are you?

You are a developer with an excellent track record. You have built up your experience in a similar, product-driven organisation, or at an agency where you have repeatedly pulled off the same ‘trick’, and you now want to take the next step on the career ladder so you can focus on long-term quality.

  • You have at least 7 years' work experience in a similar role, with Scrum Master or lead experience (you don't need to be a manager)
  • You are able to determine a team's technological direction
  • You have a lot of experience with .NET Core
  • You are experienced in working in the Cloud (we use Azure and Kubernetes)
  • For you, it's second nature to set up a Cloud environment with infrastructure as code
  • If you are building a new system, you know how to apply domain-driven design
  • You have extensive experience with CI/CD
  • You have excellent communication skills, are patient and enjoy working within and with a team.
